24 hours in the winter wonderland of Mayrhofen
For winter sports enthusiasts the day starts on our Penken Action Mountain: tackling Austria’s steepest ski run, the Harakiri run, under the morning sun and hit some massive kickers in our paradise for freestylers, the Vans Penken Park. Join other snow enthusiasts in the afternoon for a cruise down the wide slopes of our Ahorn Leisure Mountain before finishing off your unforgettable day watching the sunset from the White Lounge, Mayrhofner Bergbahnen’s Igloo Bar. Relax and listen to soothing music while having a drink – and do not forget to book your exclusive overnight stay at one of ten artistically designed Igloo Suites.
Shoot down the Harakiri Run to limber up in the morning: Austria’s steepest slope with an average incline of 78% can only be groomed with special snow machines suspended from the end of a winch. It is a real challenge for every alpine athlete. Cool shirts are available in the shop. Things go down with style in our Vans Penken Park. With loads of rails, boxes and other creative obstacles, it's not only one of the biggest but also one of the best fun parks in Europe. Beginners, experts and professionals can find what they’ve been looking for. Five different lines provide a perfect playground for you to celebrate modern freestyle. Especially the Pro Line attracts the elite of the international snowboarding and freeskiing scene. While freestylers dream of the next Olympic halfpipe medal, others hang out in our Chill Area to admire creative finesse of the courageous riders. www.vans-penken-park.com
White Lounge – round up a perfect day of skiing
After lunch, skiers can travel up to Ahorn Leisure Mountain in Austria’s biggest cable car. In 6½ minutes, the cable car can carry up to 160 passengers to this 2,000m retreat of relaxation where you can cruise down the wide sweeping slopes of Mount Ahorn amidst the mighty peaks of the upper Zillertal. Between 10.00 am and 04.30 pm, our White Lounge invites its guests for some cool drinks, deck chairs and lounge music to kick back and relax. The igloo village’s sumptuously sculpted igloos host many entertaining parties but also provide exclusive overnight accommodations, including sauna area, dinner in the Dining Igloo and breakfast. For adventurers, the Marhofner Bergbahnen offer overnight accommodations in a group igloo for four persons. Couples can spend a night in an exclusive suite for two in a cosy double sleeping bag; of course, a bottle of champagne already awaits you on arrival at the Ahorn plateau.
